Literature Text

Winter's night, in evening light
The shed of blood, despair and fright

The ring of swords, a fight we cannot win
It's we against the lords, and so the war begins

The bells will ring, the choirs will sing
Our people has fallen into flames

We can't stand our ground no more
The eternal oath that we all swore
To protect the peace we managed to restore
Lifelong journey, here we are
Lead us home you great, bright star
Not many of us could survive the attack
And we are the ones who came back

Our lives will burn, but we won't turn
We've lost so much, we will return

The bells will ring, the choirs will sing
Our people will rise up from the flames

We can't stand our ground no more
The eternal oath that we all swore
To protect the peace we managed to restore
Lifelong journey, here we are
Lead us home you great, bright star

We are those who fight for good
We knew the risk, but thought we could
Now we know we fight because we should

We can't stand our ground no more
The eternal oath that we all swore
To protect the peace we managed to restore
Lifelong journey, here we are
Lead us home you great, bright star
Not many of us could survive the attack
And we are the ones who came back

Not many of us could survive the attack
And we are the ones who came back
In every war, even the fictional ones, there are people fighting for what they believe to be right, dying for the cause of proving those beliefs to be true. Is it really worth it?

I wrote this while working on a Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice fanfic long ago, and although the poem is not at all based upon any Star Wars related material, it still reflects the story in itself pretty well :D
